Duck Diva's Field Report: October 13, 2021

I can’t believe we are in mid October already! I have been so caught up in preparations for duck season that I have lost track of the days.

Harvest is in FULL swing and we are doing to opposite of a rain dance. Hopefully Mother Nature will continue to cooperate and not rain on us until our crops are out of the fields.

As of yesterday, I saw my second glimpse of a few geese, but they should be coming on down in full force very soon. I took a look at last year's calendar and saw that they arrived on October 3rd. They're going to be later this year, but I think it's by design. It's almost as though they know that the crops are coming in later than the norm. Maybe Mother Nature had a talk with them and told them not to travel just yet; that the food that harvest provides isn't ready just yet.

Next week we will be getting ready for the seating of a new pit. It's always a fun process, but there are the inevitable hiccups. I will let you know how it goes.

Be sure to grab a copy of this month's Arkansas Wild magazine. You may recognize the Lady of the Lodge--that would be me!

Until next time, remember this: Here at The Elms Lodge, I call the shots!
