Field Leases

Waterfowl Hunting with Southern Style

The Elms offers hunters and guests the perfect setting for a sublime Southern experience. Whether you're gearing up for the hunt, or winding down afterward, our accommodations will provide just the right fit for you.

We offer approximately twelve shooting fields for lease to corporate or individual clients on a season-long or shorter-term basis. Field sizes range in size from 20 to 300 acres.

The cost of a shooting field season lease varies from $5,000 to $15,000 depending on the size and location of the field. Short-term leases are occasionally available.

Currently, The Elms has six comfortable permanent pits and a number of nice skid blinds located in the ag fields and the CRP pools. The hard-working Elms team takes pride in the level of management effort expended to provide the highest quality waterfowling experience for its clients.

Ag Fields

Our ag fields are planted to rice, corn, or soybeans and are flooded following harvest. They contain post-harvest waste and some unharvested grain. They are flooded to optimum depths and become quite attractive to huge numbers of migrating and wintering waterfowl. The flooding is done gradually during the season to provide a continual supply of new food for the birds.

CRP Pools

The CRP pools, with natural plant communities, are drawn down slowly to promote optimum plant diversity and then re-flooded after the moist-soil seeds have matured. Their diverse community of moist-soil plants (wild millet, smartweed, etc.) and select hardwood tree plantings, host thousands of feeding, resting, and roosting ducks and geese.
